Biodiesel
Zambia is a landlocked country and depends almost entirely on its road, rail and air transport for its international trade. Fuel therefore plays a very significant role in the economy of the country where almost 100% of fuel for trucks is diesel. Our Company focuses on production and selling of biodiesel to address this dependence.
As current global biodiesel production is 1.3 million tonnes growing at 14% per year and predicted to reach 2.7 million tonnes by 2010, there is a projected production gap of 4.5 million tonnes out of an estimated demand of 7.2 million tonnes by 2010. Our Company is therefore also targeting the international market.
Our biodiesel is a clean burning, renewable diesel fuel made from Jatropha Curcas plant (Umutondo mono) found all over the country. The methyl ester of the plant known as biodiesel is very similar to the petrochemical based diesel fuel. Biodiesel can be used as a pure fuel or blended with petroleum in any desired percentage. The fuel is more environmental friendly compared to the petrol diesel.
